BMW has lowered its 2026 outlook for the automotive segment again. The company now expects an EBIT margin of between -0.5% and 0.5%, compared with its previous range of 1% to 3%. Its forecast for return on capital employed in the segment has also fallen, to between -1% and 1% from 1% to 5%.

The revised targets follow a board decision to expand and intensify structural and portfolio measures. BMW said operating financial performance remained solid in the third quarter, but the approved actions are expected to have a non-operating impact on the automotive segment’s results in the fourth quarter. The company had already cut its targets in June.

BMW expects automotive deliveries to decline moderately year on year. Fully electric cars are forecast to make up a slightly larger share of automotive deliveries than in 2025, while the motorcycle segment is expected to see a slight decline. The EBIT margin before structural and portfolio measures is still expected to remain above 2%.

As part of its restructuring, BMW plans to broaden and accelerate changes to its organization and processes. The company said management positions will be reduced faster than previously announced.
