Brazilian farmers had planted 53% of the area planned for the 2026/27 soybean crop by Thursday, October 29, agricultural consultancy AgRural reported on Monday. The share was up from 40% a week earlier and above the 47% recorded at the same time last year.
More widespread rainfall across Mato Grosso eased producers’ concerns about the possibility of having to replant. In southern Brazil, excess moisture slowed planting, but had not caused delays. Work remained paused in drier areas of Maranhão, Tocantins, Piauí and Bahia, where rainfall was uneven and limited.
Planting of Brazil’s 2026/27 first corn crop had reached 63% of the estimated area in the Center-South region, compared with 58% the previous week and 59% at the same point last year.
