Disney is preparing a major round of layoffs and has asked some executives to cut expenses by 20%, according to Bloomberg. The company has not commented on the report.
Citing sources, Bloomberg said some divisions would be affected more heavily than others, but did not identify which areas could face the deepest cuts. The report also said CEO Josh D’Amaro intends to reinvest part of the savings in film and television programming, technology, theme parks and cruise ships.
If carried out, the cuts would mark Disney’s fourth workforce reduction cycle in 2026 under D’Amaro and its largest so far, according to the report. In late September, the company laid off several hundred employees, mainly in human resources and IT, across corporate operations and multiple divisions.
Disney also eliminated several hundred positions in July across corporate functions and areas including Pixar, ESPN, Disney Entertainment Television and its studios. In April, it cut about 1,000 jobs, mainly following the creation of a consolidated marketing division led by Asad Ayaz, the company’s chief marketing and brand officer.
