European markets open lower, with Madrid bucking the trend

European stock markets opened mostly lower on Monday, with losses recorded in Paris, London and Frankfurt. Madrid was the only major market to move higher at the start of trading.

Paris declined 0.13%, while London fell 0.36%. Frankfurt was down 0.06%, whereas Madrid advanced 0.3%.
