Intesa Sanpaolo CEO Carlo Messina said the bank is confident in the strength of its industrial plan for Monte dei Paschi di Siena (MPS) and in the value it could create for shareholders, employees, customers and local communities.

Speaking as Intesa Sanpaolo reported results for the first nine months of the year, Messina said the offer would allow MPS shareholders to join Italy’s largest banking group and one of Europe’s leading banking groups.

He also said Intesa Sanpaolo had quickly secured all required sector-specific regulatory approvals to acquire control of MPS, including those from the European Central Bank and the relevant international authorities.
