The Italian Senate has formally approved the legislative proposal known as ColtivaItalia, transforming it into law following a vote of 76 in favor, zero against, and 64 abstentions. As anticipated, opposition parties chose to abstain from the vote. The bill had previously received approval from the Chamber of Deputies without any opposing votes, completing its legislative journey.

The new law earmarks over one billion euros for the agricultural sector, with implementing decreets expected to be prepared soon to make these funds available in the first months of 2027. Specific allocations include 70 million euros for the Food Sovereignty Fund, targeting soft wheat, barley, corn, and vegetable proteins. Additionally, 300 million euros are designated for Italian livestock farming, while another 300 million will support the competitiveness of local supply chains.

A further 300 million euros has been assigned to the new National Olive Plan covering the period from 2026 to 2030. The legislation also includes a provision of 150 million euros specifically aimed at fostering youth and female entrepreneurship within the sector.
