SNCF expects train services to be slightly disrupted on TGV routes and disrupted on Intercités, TER and Île-de-France train and RER services on Thursday, November 5, due to a national strike over wages and employment. The company said it would publish detailed, line-by-line forecasts on Wednesday.
Passengers whose TGV or Intercités train is cancelled will be contacted and can exchange or receive a refund for their ticket without charge, SNCF said.
The four representative railway unions—CGT, Unsa Ferroviaire, Sud Rail and CFDT—have called for a 24-hour strike. They are seeking wage increases at SNCF to make up for inflation and have also criticised what they describe as a regressive national budget.
In the Paris region, RATP expects normal service on its metro, bus and tram networks. It forecasts normal traffic on RER A, while RER B, which is operated jointly by RATP and SNCF, is expected to be disrupted. RATP will also provide more detailed forecasts on Wednesday.
A RATP representative said that any request from the Paris Police Prefecture to close stations would not prevent trains from running.
