The rising cost of domestic heating oil is putting pressure on household budgets in Alsace, where delivery rounds in the Bas-Rhin are bringing customers face to face with steep bills. Across France, nearly 9% of primary residences are still heated with oil, according to the supplied report.

Anne Schecklé, a 60-year-old care assistant living in Nordhouse, paid just over €2,460 for 1,200 litres. That works out to €2.06 per litre—twice the price she paid in May 2025. She lives in a roughly 40-square-metre apartment above her family’s former bakery and says she already watches her spending, including her use of hot water.

The report follows a delivery route operated by Ludwiller Energies, a small company based in Erstein. Its branch manager, Florian Schuzger, accompanied a 19-tonne truck as it visited villages and homes in the area.
