Matteo Salvini has urged his governing coalition partners to respect the Lega’s priorities, putting pension reform at the top of the party’s agenda. Speaking on the sidelines of Eicma, he said the fund for early retirement in the budget was designed to enable workers to retire at 64 from 2027.

Salvini said the measure would be voluntary, not compulsory. He framed it as part of the Lega’s effort to move beyond the Fornero law and said he expected the same respect for his party’s priorities that he showed for other measures in the budget, including an income tax cut and an expansion of the flat-tax regime for self-employed workers.
