STMicroelectronics has introduced STM32A, a unified microcontroller platform designed to bring together applications in industry, automotive and physical artificial intelligence. The company says the new family extends its STM32 platform into automotive and safety-critical systems.
Built on more than 20 years of STM32 development, the platform is intended to give developers greater continuity and software reusability across different application areas. ST says this could help speed the introduction of advanced embedded systems, including emerging physical AI systems.
The company says STM32A will also address market-specific requirements for safety, security, qualification and product longevity. Remi El-Ouzzane, president of ST’s Microcontrollers, Digital ICs and RF Product Group, said the unified platform is intended to let developers build on a common foundation instead of starting over with each new product.
El-Ouzzane said the approach is also meant to reduce fragmentation in industrial applications and support greater software reuse across markets and product generations.
