Lazio’s economy grew faster than Italy’s national average for the fifth consecutive year, supported by public works and consumer spending, according to a Bank of Italy report. Regional GDP rose 1% in the first half of the year.

Construction activity continued to benefit from infrastructure projects. Hours worked in the sector increased by 1%, while investment spending on public works was up a quarter compared with the same period in 2025. Jubilee-related projects and works connected to Italy’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan may continue to support the regional economy in the coming months and years.

Tourism growth slowed after a strong increase during the Jubilee. Visitor stays fell 4%, and tourism spending declined 3%.

Exports from the aerospace and pharmaceutical sectors also weakened after their sharp rise in 2025, falling 6.8%.
