Mercado Bitcoin says it has blocked about $15 million in crypto assets following a hacker attack early on Monday, November 2. The exchange’s latest update, issued by Tuesday, November 4, put the amount at nearly 82 million Brazilian reais.

Customers are expected to regain access to their accounts gradually from Monday, November 9. In the first phase, access will be available only through the company’s website and will allow users to view balances, statements, holdings and investments.

Transfers, withdrawals and trading will return in later phases, the company said, with updates to be shared through its official channels as each service completes final security checks. Mercado Bitcoin said transaction systems and processes are undergoing extensive, independent testing, and that it is investigating the incident in cooperation with the relevant authorities.

The exchange also warned customers about potential scams. It said it never asks for passwords, verification codes or recovery phrases, and does not offer refunds through links, WhatsApp or phone calls. Official information is available only through the company’s app, website and verified profiles on Instagram and X.

The attack came four days after Binance suffered a separate hack that resulted in the theft of $6.3 billion, according to the report. Binance temporarily suspended withdrawals.
