Milan’s Central Station has a new dining destination: Ora, a food hub created by chefs Remo and Mario Capitaneo in the historic Galleria dei Mosaici. The approximately 700-square-metre space is on the level of the platforms and was developed by Glamore Group in partnership with Grandi Stazioni Retail.
Ora is designed for travellers with different amounts of time to spare, from a quick stop before a train to a longer meal. The Capitaneo brothers say they aim to maintain the same care in ingredients, preparation and service in either case. In Milan, the chefs are also known for Verso, their two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Piazza Duomo.
The venue will open seven days a week, from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Its service will change with the day, offering breakfast, lunch, quick breaks, aperitifs and dinner. Visitors can choose the café, takeaway or the bistro, with a menu drawing on recognisable dishes from Italy’s regions.
Grandi Stazioni Retail CEO Elena Sorlini described the project as part of a broader role for stations as urban destinations, bringing together mobility, culture and hospitality. Ora occupies the station’s former first-class hall, within the Galleria dei Mosaici, an Art Deco space.
